Los Haitises significa \u00abtierra monta\u00f1osa\u00bb en Taino, y el Parque nutre uno de los pocos bosques tropicales restantes de la isla. El parque, que tambi\u00e9n tiene extensos manglares, cubre un \u00e1rea de 1.600 km\u00b2 (618 millas cuadradas). Una maravilla natural repleta de muchas llaves y cuevas, la selva all\u00ed fue utilizada como un lugar para la pel\u00edcula Jurassic Park.
